Obituary For James W. "Scratch" Anderson, Jr.

Mr. James W. “Scratch” Anderson Jr.,79, of Madison, died April 19, 2020. SERVICES WILL BE PRIVATE

Sunday, April 19, 2020, James Willie Anderson, Jr. was called “home” and his soul was set free. James was born on January 14, 1941 in Madison, NC to the late James Sr. and Levia Kellam Anderson. James was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Ruth Lindsey Anderson and a loving and caring father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to his family. James was educated in the Madison Public School System and graduated from Charles Drew High School in 1959. He was a proud member of the U. S. Army for three years. Once discharged, he began his work career at Burlington Industries where he was a dedicated employee until the company was bought out in 1987. James later worked at Pine Hall Brick, Inc. in Madison, NC where he remained until his retirement in 2014. James, affectionally known as “Scratch”, had a love of cars, his grandbabies, the Washington Redskins and the Carolina Tar Heels. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mozelle Anderson Shelton. Left to cherish his memory: his wife; Ruth Lindsey Anderson, daughters; Annette Anderson and Lawanna Anderson, sons; Billy Anderson and Keith Anderson, his grandchildren; Nikki Waddell, Mikayla, Christian, Nicholas and Dorian Anderson, Gabrielle Atwood, great grandchild; Cameron Anderson, brother; Lawrence Anderson (Sheila), brothers-in-law; Robert Shelton, Otto Lindsey, sister-in-law; Betty Mosley and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
