Pearly Mae Nichols- Hamblin transitioned to her eternal home on April 11, 2020 at the age of 76.
Affectionately known to most of her family and friends as “Pearly” she was born July 31, 1943 to Matthew and Isabell Nichols, who proceeded in death.
Pearly received Christ at a very early age at Sharpsburg Baptist Church, Pickens MS. She loved the Lord and took every opportunity to sing about his goodness and mercy. She loved gospel music and gospel shows and she listened to her favorite gospel group “Lee Williams” and the Spiritual QC’s every night. Pearly was a graduate of Velma Jackson High School, Camden, MS. On June 25, 1969 Pearly united in holy matrimony to the love of her life Willie Hamblin Sr, who proceeded her in death on December 23, 2006. To this union was blessed with five wonderful children. She was also proceeded in death by her sister Julie Mae Potts.
With their memories Pearly is survived by her five children: Monica Marie Hinton (Michael) of Hackettstown NJ, Willie Lee Hamblin Jr. of Paterson NJ, Sharonica Mesha Hamblin of Paterson NJ Ronnie Hamblin of Washingtonville NY, and Shenika Latrice Hamblin-Griffin(Willie) of Jackson, MS. Seven wonderful grandchildren Brittnie Hinton, Tymir Hinton, Jade Hinton, Joshua Hinton, Avaunte Griffin, Deaunte Griffin, Willie Griffin Jr and one precious great-grandchild Jase Kru Hinton,her sister, Flora McBride and a host of nieces and nephews.
A loving mother and homemaker, Pearly had lots of hobbies, she enjoyed cooking and baking. Every holiday she looked forward to putting on a display of the best cakes and pies. Sewing and Home Decorating was her passion. Over the years she tried her hand at art, pottery, cosmetology and various other things that peeked her curiosity. Her creativity and ingenuity was something to marvel. She loved learning new things and accomplishing new challenges. She listened to all genres of music and in her spare time she wrote poems and songs. Fishing was one of her favorite pastimes and being on the fishing bank with her sisters (Julie and Flora) filled her heart with joy.
Pearly was a warm gentle spirit who opened her heart and home to many family and friends in need over the years. Her great sense of humor and “give it to straight” approach made her a shoulder to lean on, a listing ear when you needed it.
