Eric Riddle

Passed 04/21/2020

Eric Riddle, affectionately known as Eric “Joe” by his family and friends was the fourth son born to Samuel C. Riddle Jr. and Muriel Grier Riddle on November 28. 1978. He was given the middle name of “Joe” by his late grandmother, Ruby Grier. He departed this life on April 21, 2020 at the Caromont Hospital in Gastonia, NC.

He attended Gaston County Schools where he excelled in academics as well as in basketball and track. He graduated from Cleveland Community College in Shelby, NC. Eric was employed at various jobs throughout his life. He was currently a self -employed landscaper and skilled handy man. I guess he could be called in this day and time a “Joe” of all trades. His services were always professionally done and he made sure you were satisfied with the results before leaving.

Eric was our burst of sunshine. We enjoyed being in his company. His “spark of life” and his love for people led him to never meet a stranger. He gave of himself often without hesitation; and never requiring anything in return. His famous smile and his laughter was contagious. To have known him is to know that he enjoyed a life full of happiness, love and excitement.

Some of the loves of his life were all types of music, food, fellowship and family. And as a family, we all loved him back. Khamari, please know that your Daddy loved you most of all. Eric’s untimely death has left us all with a void that we must now fill with remembered joys once shared with him.

We give thanks to God for the time He allowed Eric to be our son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. We find peace in knowing that we will see him again on the other side.

Eric’s loving memory lives on through his loving companion, Geraldine White, son, Joshua Crawford of the home; his parents, Sam and Muriel Riddle of Belmont, NC; brothers, Bobby C. Riddle, Samuel C. Riddle III, Rueben B. Riddle and Jeremiah C. Riddle all of Belmont. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins and “special friends” –you all know who you are.

He will lie in state on Saturday from 10 until 11:45 a.m. at Gregory Funeral Service, Gastonia.

A private memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday with live streaming on Facebook at 12 noon.
