Mrs. Margaret Baldwin

Margaret Louise Baldwin departed this life in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 23, 2020. Margaret was born September 25, 1942 to the late Sherman Payne and Annie Bell Payne. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Donald Baldwin; one son, William Sheldon Baldwin; four sisters, Mary Francis Hillian, Diane Payne, Brenda Harris and Willie Jones; two brothers, Shelly Pike and Walter Thomas Pike.

At the tender age of 7, she decided to follow Jesus and united with St. Stephen A.M.E. Zion Church under the pastorship of the Rev. Dr. Stephen Alexander Speight. She became a proud graduate of the great William Penn High School, Class of 1958, and later united in holy matrimony William Donald Baldwin. To this union was added five children.

She matriculated at Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield, MA, having earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. Margaret went on to acquire her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from American International College in Springfield, MA.

She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Marie “Penny” of Hartford, Conn; three sons, Bryant of the home, Rev. Randall (Jennie) of High Point, NC, Thomas of Northampton, MA; two brothers, Ronald (Virginia) of High Point, NC, Freddie of Dallas, TX; four sisters, Geraldine of Springfield, MA, Sherry, Beatrice, Katie all of High Point, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Guilford Memorial Park. Mrs. Baldwin will lie in state at Phillips Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
