Deacon Brice Martin Hutchings, Jr

A TIME TO BE BORN… Brice Martin Hutchings, Jr. was born December 30, 1949 in Gadsden, AL to the late Brice Martin Hutchings, Sr. and Jessina Lewis Hutchings.

A TIME TO PLANT…. At an early age Brice confessed hope in Christ and later united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Brice Martin Hutchings, Jr. attended James L Kings Elementary School, Nancy E Oden School and Carver High School in Gadsden, AL. Upon his family moving to Oneonta, he graduated from Oneonta High school in 1968. Brice was left-handed and had a very distinctive skill of penmanship. Brice was gifted and had a natural and exceptional talent as a mechanic. He had a love for cars and found joy in sharing his skills with family and friends. Brice enjoyed meeting and helping people. He was a selfless man with a joyful spirit and unique sense of humor. He was employed at Western Auto in Birmingham, AL for 26 years. After their closing he was employed by Penske for a short period of time until he became employed by Valley Ford Car Dealership in Oneonta, AL for 14 years.

A TIME TO LOVE… Brice met and married the love of his life Gracie Marie Starks. They were united in the bond of holy matrimony for 39 years.

A TIME TO DIE… Brice Martin Hutchings, Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.

A TIME TO MOURN… He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife Gracie Marie Starks Hutchings; three sons, James Eric Moore (Cheryl) of Oneonta, AL; Gary Wayne Haynes (Elizabeth) of Birmingham, AL; Brice Martin Hutchings,III (Yaneth) of Oneonta, AL, three Brothers: John Henry Hutchings, Walter Hutchings (Rose Marie); three sisters, Doris Butler (Nathaniel) of Oneonta AL; Deborah Jean Hutchings of Oneonta, AL; and Winzina Hutchings of Birmingham AL; ten grandchildren: Desiree, Eric, Emery, Logan, Jaycee, Ruthie, Juan, Jesu’s, Jerrami’, and Yozlyn, three great grandchildren, two Aunts: Mary Bonds and Catherene Smith; one uncle; Richard Robinson; four brother in laws, four sister in laws, a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and loving friends.

Funeral Services will be 1 P.M. Saturday May 2,2020 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Oneonta Rev. Bobby Price Officiating Burial Will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery Public visitation will be on Saturday 11 A.M.
