Mrs. Ruby Lee “Mommie” Brock Moore was born on December 16, 1928, to Elijah Brock and Ethel Posey Brock, both of Talladega County. Mrs. Moore accepted Jesus Christ at an early age as her Savior and served faithfully in her local church. She was a long time member of Sycamore Missionary Baptist Church. She shared her gifts and served as a member of the senior usher board, vice president of the missionary board and financial secretary. She was educated in the Talladega County School System graduating from Talladega County Training School. Professionally, Ruby was employed a number of years with the Talladega County Board of Education as a teacher’s assistant at Lincoln Elementary School in Lincoln, Alabama. After her retirement, she returned to the Talladega County schools and continued her love for education as a substitute teacher. In her spare time, Ruby enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles, traveling, gardening and cooking. She and her “squad” loved cheering on the Lincoln High School Golden Bears football team on Friday nights ringing their cowbells for encouragement. On May 14, 1950, Ruby and the late Charles Moore were joined in holy matrimony. Mrs. Ruby began her eternal journey on the evening of May 1, 2020, at the residence of her daughter in Pell City. She was preceded in passing by her husband of thirty-five years, Charles Moore, Sr.; three daughters, Cathy Lee Moore, Teresa Diane Moore and Carol Elaine Moore; her parents, Elijah and Ethel Brock; and her ten siblings. Mommie leaves to celebrate her life and legacy; two daughters, Marguerite Moore of Pell City, Alabama and Connie Kay Moore of Talladega, Alabama; five sons, Charles (Barbara) Moore, Jr. of Valdosta, Georgia, Bobby (Sharon) Moore of Oxford, Alabama, Stanley (April) Moore of Harvest, Alabama, Donnie Ray Moore of Talladega, Alabama and Eric Miguel Moore of San Diego, California; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
