Obituary For Annie Belle Holmes

Private funeral services for Annie Belle Holmes, 84, of 2486 NW 80th Street Miami, Florida were held Sunday, March 17, 2020 at Ervington Baptist Church with Reverend James E. Reynolds officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Annie Belle Holmes was the seventh child born to the late Edgar Holmes and Eva Colker on October 21, 1935 in Allendale, South Carolina. At an early age Annie accepted Christ into her life at Ervington Baptist Church. She was educated in the public schools of Allendale County. After graduating high school, Annie moved to Miami, Florida in 1957, where she continued her education at Dorsey Adult Center as well as Miami-Dade College nursing program. During her career, Annie became one of the most loved nurses at Jackson Memorial Hospital, later Ryder Trauma Center until her retirement.

Annie met Ed Barnes Sr. in Miami and together they had three children. Annie later had another son, the late Ronnie Zanders. Annie lived her life for her family. She was a devoted member of House of Bethlehem Bread of Life Ministries in Miami until the day the Lord called her home on May 6, 2020.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son Ronnie; and grandson, Delvan Barnes; five brothers and one sister.

Annie leaves to cherish her fond memories, her three children: Annie Barnes-Baptiste, Ed (Terry) Barnes Jr. and Patricia “Chrissy” Barnes-Graham; six grandchildren: Merline (Mike), Sheneka, LT CDR Tyree Barnes (United States Navy), Eukeatha, Breyonne, and Tyra; three great grandchildren: Tarris, Brayden and Tylar; Three brothers: William (Diane) Holmes, Benjamin (Viola) Holmes, and Freeman Holmes; one brother-in-law, Jimmie Riley; one sister-in-law, Modie Holmes; and a host of family members, friends and church family.

Family will receive friends at funeral home on Saturday, May 16, 2020 from 5-7 p.m.

Friends may call at his residence of her niece, Barbara Rita Addison and Curtis Addison at 812 Furse Mill Road Martin, SC or at the funeral home.
