Aunt Shirley was the sweetest woman in the world. My sister and I stayed with her as often as we could. No matter where she was, we always ended up at her house. So warm and caring. I'd always call her when I came home for a visit and she always made sure to come see me. Family gatherings or just hanging out, your presence made everything better. She was there when I was in labor with my first child and gave him the nickname "Grasshopper". She was our rock and the love she had for everyone was just amazing. It hurts really bad but I know you're resting in a better place. I will always love you and hold you forever in my heart. Until we meet again...rest on. Your niece, Girlie

So sorry to learn of Rev. White's passing. She was a very nice and kind woman. I have so many fond memories of her from West Street Christian Church, and Colony Drive where she lived prior to moving to Vanceboro. I will miss her. Aunt Shirley, My heart is loaded with chills at this time and I very sorry of your sickness and passing. You were the perfect aunt and baby sitter to me and my brothers as well as many more in the community. But for the truth to be told you were pretty much like a mom. When you fed your children you also fed us as well and you didn't have to do that. I will always remember the kindness and care that you had. There are so many family members waiting for your arrival in Heaven. I can name them but I don't want to leave out anyone, but I will name these two (2) and they are Grand Ma Hannah and Daryl Ray. RIP Aunt Shirley and I will always love you. MSG(Ret) Keith Canady
