OBITUARY

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4: 6-8

MRS. MARTHA J. DOUGLAS, daughter of the late Harry and Lillian Russell Jones, was born August 21, 1925 in Smith Creek, N.C. She departed this life at the young age of 93 on May 6, 2020 in Richmond, VA.

At an early age she was baptized and joined Russell Union RZUA Church. She attended the Warren County Public Schools.

Martha was married to the late Willie Douglas and to this union seven children were born. Two of their daughters preceded her in death, Sarah B. and Becky Ann Douglas.

After marriage she later joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Manson, NC.

Martha will be greatly missed by her five children- Acie (Shirley) Douglas and Willie James (Ruby) Douglas, all of Chase City, VA; Fannie Thompson, Richmond, VA; John Douglas, Chase City, VA and Dorothy Walker, Richmond, VA; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lucy M. Douglas, South Hill, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
