I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun; Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Mr. John Dale “Snook” “JD” Harrison, age 68, was born on October 25, 1951 in Macon, North Carolina to Sallie S. Harrison and the late John A. Harrison. He departed his earthly life on April 28, 2020 at the State Island University Hospital in Staten Island, New York.

At an early age, John joined the Macon Second Baptist Church in Macon, North Carolina, where he was a lifetime member until his death.

John received his education from the Warren County Public School System and was among the last graduating class of John R. Hawkins High School in 1969. After graduation, he moved to New York and there lived until his death.

John was united in Holy matrimony to Paulette M. Harrison.

He was employed by, at that time, Manufacturers Hanover Trust Bank in New York City, New York. His employment was interrupted in February 1971 when he was drafted into the United States Army and served for two years in Germany as SP4 Military Police. Upon his return to New York in 1973, he resumed his position at the newly Chemical Bank, and upon his retirement in 1997 he was AVP of Investment Banking.

Those left to cherish his life is his wife of 23 years, Paulette Harrison of Staten Island, New York; his mother, Sallie S. Harrison of Macon, North Carolina; two sisters, JoAnn Harrison of Falls Church, Virginia and Deborah Harrison-McKevie (James) of Macon, North Carolina; his mother-in-law, Silvera Henry of Staten Island, New York; three brothers-in-law, James, Bernard and Calvin, seven nieces, four nephews, along with a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousin and friends.

A private graveside service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the Mount Zion Baptist Church cemetery in Macon, North Carolina with immediate family and invited friends in attendance.
