OBITUARY

Walter R. Goode was born on April 26, 1934, to the late Fred and Florence Goode and departed this life on Monday, May 4, 2020. He was the third of three siblings: Fred D. Goode, Jr. (deceased) and Lonnie J. Goode, Sr. (deceased) both of Washington, DC.

Walter, a native Washingtonian, attended Phelps Senior High School. After graduating, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was later employed as a Freight Rate Assistant for the General Services Administration until he retired in 1993. In 1962, he wed Veronica Holmes of Washington, DC (who preceded him in death).

An avid book collector, Walter enjoyed reading about history, culture and religion. A pianist and guitar player, he also liked playing and listening to music. Known for his laid-back but friendly demeanor, Walter loved discussing a variety of topics especially sports, religion and politics. He was also a life-long Washington Redskins fan.

He leaves cherished memories to his family and friends: sister-in-law Doris A. Goode; Uncle Edgar Young, nephews and nieces, Fred Goode, Jr., Renaldo Goode, Lance Goode, Linda Goode-Fitcheard (Elias), Lonnie Goode, Jr., Charlene Holloway, Frank Goode, Kevin Goode (Inga), Chris Goode (Anjenette), Keith Goode, Twanda Adams (James); Great nieces and nephews, Shawneice Fitchard-Pulley (Dwate), Lance Goode, Jr. (LaShawn), Fred Goode, III, Elisa Fitcheard, Reenata Goode, Brandon Dixon, Lamar Darden, Chelsia Goode, Crystal Darden, Kevin Goode, Jr., Tatayana Darden, Cameron, Goode, Freda Bridges, Glendale Bridges, April Bridges and a host of great great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
