Obituary For Edward Roundtree

On Tuesday, May 12, 2020, Edward Roundtree, passed away at age 69.

Edward was born on February 27, 1951 in Durham, NC to Margaret Roundtree and Edward Cole.

He received his education in Durham county schools. Edward was joined in matrimony to Deborah Woodard of Durham, N.C.

Edward had a passion for sports cars, and a devoted love for friends and family. If ever asked what his main food preference was, it was without a doubt fried chicken. He was known as a tenacious worker, for his kind smile, and his compassionate spirit. Edward was preceded in death by his father, Edward, his mother, Margaret, and his wife Deborah. He is survived by his brother Freddie Roundtree, his stepbrother John, his four nieces, Tiffany, Tonia, Margaret, and Margaret, his goddaughter Edana, his lifelong friend Edward Lucas and several cousins, many more nieces, and nephews, and friends.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the Holloway Memorial Funeral home at 2 o’clock p.m.

At first when I heard abut his death, I couldn't picture his face. Once seeing him again his smile came to memory. Edward always carried that something that made me return his smile. He didn't live loudly nor was he attention grabbing, but his smile was really awesome. I'm grateful that I shared hallways and classes with him at Hillside High School and that when we graduated at Durham County Stadium we share our freedom.... Darlene Malloy Haskins

We were honored to have had Edward Roundtree as one of us. We are deeply saddened for his loss as we were for his wife, our sister Deborah W. Roundtree. So sorry to learn of the passing of Edward Roundtree. We attended Lyon Park School together. I remember him as humble and kind. I pray his family find peace and comfort under the umbrella of God's love. Patricia Lea

Our hearts are heavy! Words can't express the magnitude of the sudden loss of our Best Friend, and God Father, Edward Roundtree. However, we know that God makes no mistakes and every Man, Woman, Boy, and Girl must make this same journey! Mr. Roundtree is gone but he will never be forgotten-- Ed and family.
