Obituary For Annette Arnold Pryor

Annette Arnold Pryor was born January 13, 1947 To William Henry and Willie Mae Arnold in Newnan, Georgia. The oldest of three children, her loving, affectionate and nurturing nature began with her two siblings, William and Jesse. As a young girl, she developed a love for cooking and baking by watching and learning from her grandmothers Ada and Lilla. Annette attended elementary and high schools in the Newnan area, graduating from the latter in 1965. After graduation she moved to Atlanta to live with her uncle and aunt, Deacon and Mrs. James Freeman, Sr. Annette always credited Deacon Freeman with being the one who truly taught her how to cook southern dishes, and she became world class in the kitchen; In other words, she could cook it, make it, fry it or bake it. Anyone who has sampled her cooking knows this is a fact. Shortly after moving to Atlanta, Annette attended Apex Beauty School, graduating with honors, and specializing in applying color. She found work with Uptown Coiffures in Buckhead, beginning an association with Richard V. Muller and John Guidry which would last for decades. Around the same time, she became a member of Providence Baptist Church, active in the adult choirs and various other auxiliaries. It was there she met and married and to this union, Teresa was born. Annette was very good with children; she loved them, and they loved to be around her. She would attend dance and piano recitals whenever asked, and supported children’s artistic ventures both physically and financially. She believed that their artistic gifts and scholastic efforts should be nurtured and rewarded whenever possible. Active in the church’s Scholarship Ministry, she contributed weekly to the scholarship fund, provided greeting cards, and served food to the young men and women on the annual Scholarship Day. Annette was colorblind when choosing friends; she believed in the basic principle of treating people as she’d want to be treated, and this allowed her to develop lasting relationships with co-workers, clients across several different salons, and anyone else she encountered. She is both loved and respected for her smile, engaging personality, work ethic and professionalism. On May 11, 2020, a beautiful light was not extinguished but ascended to Heaven. Annette was preceded in death by her parents William Arnold and Willie Mae Worthen. Mourning her passing are her Life Companion Michael Redding, Daughters Teresa Pryor and Cheryl Clemmons, Son Michael E. Redding II, Brothers Jesse (Sharon) Arnold and William K. (Sylvia) Arnold, Nieces DeAndria (Ron) Stringfield, Stephanie (Robert) Hood, Erica (Jeffrey) Bramlett, Shayla Arnold and Nephew Santonious (Derrick) Taylor, great nieces, nephews and a host of other loving family and friends.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Providence Baptist Church 1773 Hawthorne Ave, College Park, GA 30337 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 PM. No viewing will be allowed after 4:00 PM. Face Mask should be worn.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 1:00 PM, graveside; Kennedy Memorial Gardens 2500 River Road Ellenwood, GA. Face Mask should be worn. There will be no viewing at the graveside.

To the Redding, Arnold and Pryor families, We were so saddened to learn of your beloved Nette's transition on Monday, May 11th. We have fond memories of Nette for the 40+ years that we have known her. She took care of us during the days that we were students at West Georgia College. She frequently prepared wonderful meals for us when we visited on some weekends. We even received fabulous desserts to go. Nette always had a smile on her face and a word of encouragement. She loved her family, friends and church. We will miss her, but know her sweet spirit remains. Family, please know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Love, David and Rosalind Dennis

Mama Annette is what we called her a work. She lived up to that name for the years I have known her. She was one of the nicest persons I have ever had in my life. She would say Errin Im praying for you. Id ask at church on Sunday she'd say no Im praying for you daily. God knows I felt her prayers. It seems so weird her not being on this planet but I know with her faith and love she is looking down on all of us from heaven. I will miss her dearly. Michael, you are an amazing man watching over and taking care of our Nettie. I know she felt your love. To her children I wish she could've been my mon, I know you will miss her but always remember how much love she leaves in each of you. Mama Anette you will be very missed but I know you are looking sown on all of us.

My sincere condolences and prayers go out to the Pryor family. I remember going to Ms. Annette's house with Teresa, to say she was a good cook is an understatement. Ms. Annette was so kind and made me feel right at home there was plenty of laughter. May God comfort you with sweet memories of her always. Bonnie Zimmerman

Nette, our relationship started at church and I'm so thankful to God for allowing us to not only cross paths but develop a relationship. On Sunday mornings as I walked down the aisle, I can always find you on the left side looking at me smiling. I can remember one Sunday morning I came through the church doors and you came up to me and said, hello my Deacons wife, why are you not smiling? Your question put a smile on my face. You reminded me, as long as I am breathing, I have a reason to smile. I would forever be your Deacons wife! Angela Perry

A wonderful spirit is no longer with us. Nette will be missed. She knew I loved her desserts and only wanted a slice of cake, not the whole thing. She is still a part of our family. The cruises, cookouts, card parties, and everything in between, her laughter and smiles were there. Love you Nette and miss you already. Praying for the family and be comforted in Christ.
