Obituary For Marilyn Careathers

Marilyn C. Careathers, 70, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on May 6, 2020, in Detroit.

Marilyn was born in Detroit to Mary Evelyn Jackson and Thomas Jackson on January 23, 1950. She married Dr. Timothy Careathers, Sr. and was blessed with two sons Timothy Careathers, Jr. and Thomas Careathers.

Marilyn attended Washtenaw Community College studying Liberal Arts, which led to a brief career in retail at J.L. Hudson department store in children’s fashion. Marilyn loved to travel, hanging out at the casino, and spending time with family and friends. If you wanted to catch Marilyn, you had to move fast because she couldn’t sit still. She loved traveling from city to city by bus or plane to visit casinos. Marilyn spent her time talking on the phone with friends and family. She particularly loved talking to her friends from the old neighborhood. She strived to be a mother figure to her brothers, they resisted, but Marilyn persevered and was there when they needed her. Marilyn loved the Jackson and Connally families dearly. Marilynn Careathers is preceded in death by Mary Evelyn Jackson (Mother), Thomas Jackson, Sr. (Father), Timothy Lewis Careathers, Jr. (Son), Angel Racheal Careathers (Granddaughter), Thomas Jackson, Jr. (Brother), and Nelson Jackson (Brother).

Marilynn is survived by her son Thomas Careathers: Brothers Dylan Hunter (Gina Davis), Keith Hunter, Melvin Jackson (Sharon Jackson), and Juan Hunter: Daughter-in-law Kimbley Careathers (Timothy Careathers): Grandchildren Deano Cribbs, Terrence Careathers, Sharonda Brantley, Cameron Careathers (Kamia Careathers), Krystal Careathers, and great-Grandchildren Jadalynn Rutledge, Deano Cribbs, Jr., and Dylan Cribbs: and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
