“We’ve had a good life” she said to Jon, her husband of nearly 57 years, as she closed her eyes and peacefully passed away with grace and love on May 16, 2020.

Patricia Ann Devlin Livers was born on March 8, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY to Georgianna Phillips Murray Devlin and Joseph Vincent Devlin. Little Patty spent her early years with her best dog Daisy Annabelle Mae in Brooklyn and Queens, NY.

At St. Lawrence, Pat was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and on the ski patrol. However, it was the card games in the dormitory that dealt her the life long passion of playing bridge.

It was between high school and college, when an only child found her soul sisters - Kathy, Lissa, Susanne, Ellen, Deirdre, Patsy, and Joan whose friendships lasted through the entirety of their lives, never separated by distance.

After college, Patty moved to New York City with friends where she worked as a social worker. Always driven to achieve, Pat become first woman management trainee for Con-Edison. On June 22, 1963, Pat and Jon Michael Livers committed to their life long journey together.

She started her married life in Tampa, Florida, where Jon was stationed during the Cuban Missile crisis. Throughout the years, work and life took Pat and Jon, to live in Indiana, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina , Texas, North Dakota and then they retired in 2005 back to Chapel Hill, NC. Along the way, Pat became the proud and loving mother of three children - Mary Elizabeth Livers, Kathryn Ann Livers and Thomas Nathaniel Livers who with Tracy Moneypenny Livers, parented her most treasured and beloved granddaughters - Haley Alexis Livers and Jenna Elizabeth Livers of Chapel Hill, NC. Haley and Jenna are the two true shining stars of her life.

During the early years of her marriage, Pat was an adjunct assistant professor of Business and taught computer applications at Indiana State University in the 1960s. Throughout the moves, Pat was always active in the communities in which she lived. She was a Girl Scout leader, President of the PTA, President of the Upper Main Line Welcome Wagon, Board Member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Chapter House at UNC Chapel Hill as well as a volunteer for the NoBody Dies Alone program and Hospice. Pat was awarded the Chatham County Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2007.

Pat was active in the bridge community of where ever she lived. She played in contract bridge tournaments locally, globally and even online. Her competitive passion for the game and her love for travel took her to many countries and continents. One of her favorite trips was to Africa, where she was able to both see her favorite animal, the elephant as she brought Gold Life Master Points home as her safari trophy.

Pat’s love of games included a life long ability of being able to get all the answers right before you on Jeopardy - with a twinkle in her eye!

After Jon retired, Pat was the FOC-“finger on chart” navigator as she and Jon flew across the country in air races sponsored by Marion Jayne.

Pat’s smile lit up her face as her soul shone with true kindness towards others. It was a special gift to be in the presence of her spirit.

We will miss you mom, but we know you are at peace with Lissa, Kathy, Georgie and your GiGi.
