To the family of Mrs. Maria E. Davis, my thoughts and prayers and those of the New Covenant Church family are with you as you celebrate the wonderful and very blessed life of your mother, grandmother, relative and our friend. I have so many wonderful memories of her. Her smile stood out, and her wisdom encouraged so many of us. She was straight forward, always said what she meant and meant what she said. During my tenure as her pastor, I asked her to lead our Children's Church. She readily agreed and was always prepare with rich stories, wise counsel, and life lessons borne out of her walk with God. One memorable story was used to teach tithing. That Sunday morning as she invited the children to the front, she said, "This morning Granny is going to teach you about tithing. She e plainer that God gives us everything, and only ask that we give him 10% back. To dramatize the lesson, she began pulling things from the bags, and telling the children that there were 10 of each item. That's one for God, and nine for you. By the time she had finished, the larger stack was running over. When she asked the children would they be willing to give God the small stack if they could have the large stack, every child, and some adults answered "yes". Well, those days are a part of my memories, and Mother Maria now lives with Our Lord. So family, be encouraged know that she's given so much to so many of us. And never think of your having lost her. She is not lost. She's alive and well in heaven, and watching over you, cheering you on. Dr. Milton A. Hathaway

Maxine, Jimmy, Milton, Anissa, Frances, Martin, Berkley and other family members. Condolences and prayers to the family during this time. Granny spoke highly and proudly of her family especially about her children and grandchildren. She will truly be missed. She gave words of wisdom and correction with Love. She will be remembered for her Love, wisdom, and kindness she gave. She was an excellent cook, especially for her delicious pork chops, fried chicken, much more and her ability to can. I am proud to have been one of those to call her Granny. She taught many children the word of God during the children's moments at SLBC. I will miss visiting her at her home, having our talks and talking to her over the telephone. Remembering her saying when l would ask how she was doing. She would say, "I'm still above ground", "Not to sporty" or "I'm not kicking to high." Minister Leila Christian-Holmes and the Christian Family
