Obituary For Ernestine Zergaw

Ernestine Zergaw, of Nashville, Tennessee, born May 15, 1949, passed away peacefully, in her home, on May 12, 2020. She was the daughter of the late, Elder Arnell Mitchell, Sr and Samella Mitchell.Ernestine was a beloved mother and she grew up in the Church as a devoted Christian. Ernestine retired from Penn National Insurance Agency, as a Claims Adjuster, she later worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant, until her health declined.Ernestine was a proud member of the International F&AMM, Incorporated and Order of the Eastern Star, Elizettes Women of Distinction Chapter #63, where she once served as Worthy Matron.Ernestine truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, such as, traveling, cooking, making jewelry and chatting with friends and family. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.Ernestine is survived by her four sons, Delmas (Tangi) McGarr, Jr., Reginald McGarr, Jerald (Felicia) McGarr, and Ashanafie Zergaw.She leaves to mourn several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.Special and devoted friends, Dorothy Terrell, Eliza Eules and Callie Birdsong, along with many others who knew and loved her. Special “Thanks” to the physicians, nurses and staff at Skyline, Tri-Star Hospital and Alive Hospice. Family Viewing will be held on Thursday May 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Private viewing with family Only. At Smith Funeral Home 706-Monroe Street, Nashville, Tennessee 37208.
