Obituary For Ollie Lewis

Ollie Mae Rookard Lewis, 60, of Spartanburg, SC passed away at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. She was born on July 15, 1959 in Spartanburg, SC. Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of the late Willie James and Kathleen Rookard.

She grew up in Inman, SC, where she attended Chapman High School. Ollie furthered her education at Spartanburg Community College where she received her CNA License.

Mrs. Lewis was a long time employee at Hudson International Wire in Inman, SC. She retired from Nestle Food Corporation in Gaffney, SC after twenty years of service.

Ollie was a life-time member of Greater Bibleway of Inman SC under the leadership of her uncle and founder, Bishop Randolph Jackson. She was later called into the ministry evangelizing under her brother, Apostle Willie E. Rookard.

She is survived by: her loving children, Tiffany (James) Thompson of Spartanburg, SC and Shontara Rookard-Byrd of Greenville, SC; her three grandchildren, James Samuel Thompson, Gabriel Thompson and Nigil Thompson all of Spartanburg, SC; her three brothers, Apostle Willie E. (Gerri) Rookard and Kenneth L, (Lou Jessie) Rookard both of Inman and Larry D. Rookard of Spartanburg, SC; her five sisters, Imogene Gist of Inman, SC, Myrtle L. Thomas, Darlene (Vincent) Logan, Janice E. (Kenny) Wright and Annie M. Wheeler all of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of the Life of Ollie Mae Rookard Lewis will be held Sunday, May 24, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be in the Shiloh Memorial Cemetery, 4040 New Cut Rd., Inman, SC.
