Obituary For DeAnna Kay Byrd

On December 30, 1967 DeAnna Kay Byrd made her grand entrance into the world. Born in Reidsville, Georgia to her proud parents the late Corine L. Byrd-Fillmore and Benjamin Fillmore Sr.

DeAnna moved from Reidsville, Georgia to Ft. Pierce, FL at a very young age. She attended St. Lucie County Public Schools C.A Moore Elementary, Lincoln Park, and Dan McCarty. She was also a volunteer teacher’s aide at Garden City Elementary. She made Ft. Pierce her home and was known as “K9” by everyone who knew her in the city. “K9” brought joy and laughter to everyone she met with her outgoing personality and witty jokes. She loved fashion! Clothes, shoes, hair, and makeup; she had a new look for everyday of the week. Kay loved spending time with family, friends, children and especially her grandchildren. She loved to sing, dance, and have a good time. Kay lived her life with a smile. She was a “Free Spirit” and truly a beautiful soul.

On Saturday May 16, 2020 surrounded by loved ones, DeAnna Kay “K9” Byrd peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her Grandparents: Callie Will and Sylvester Byrd; Claude & Charity Fillmore; Parents: Corine L. Byrd-Fillmore & Benjamin Fillmore Sr.; along with other loved ones that were dear to her.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her loving children Earnest Navarro (April), Shikima Byrd-Johnson (Anthony Johnson), Rayvon Simmons, and Kimbria Byrd-Warren all of Ft. Pierce, FL. Stepson, Brian Reed of Fort Pierce, FL; Grandchildren, Ra’King Simpson, Tah'riah McCall , An'keena Johnson, Kay'anna Johnson, Ant'keeno Johnson, Ar'monie Johnson, Tyree Desire, Earnest Navarro III, and Aviona Simmons; Brothers, Benjamin Fillmore, Jr. and Dwayne Fillmore of Fort Pierce, FL, and Brian Curry of Glennville, GA. Uncles; Sylvester Charles Byrd, Jr., Malcolm “Bo” Byrd, Arthur Lee Butler all of Fort Pierce, FL. Don Byrd of Atlanta, GA, Darvin Byrd of Clermont, FL, Gregory Byrd of Avon Park, FL, Billy D. Sharp of Baltimore, Maryland, Ronnie (Shelia) Carter of Chicago, IL, Adrian (Elizabeth) Smith of Virginia, Charlie Fillmore and Maurice Fillmore of Glennville, GA. Aunts; Patricia Byrd of Avon Park, FL, Letha Fullwood, Perrethia Byrd, and Laverne Daughtry of Fort Pierce, FL. Felicia Fair of Glennville, GA, Delrea McCray of Ludowici, GA, Claudia Fillmore of New York, Janie Golden of Hinesville, GA; Niece; Sarita Whittaker of Fort Pierce, FL and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends that will truly miss her.

Public visitation for DeAnna Kay Byrd will take place on Friday, May 22, 2020 by way of our drive-thru in the rear of Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL from 5:00pm-6:00pm. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the Assembly of God Faith Temple in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 1:00pm.

Although many venues have opened and the restrictions of COVID 19 have been relaxed, we here at Stone Brothers Funeral Homes are still enforcing the guidelines set forth by the CDC and FDOH to protect our families and our staff. We ask that you respect this, as it could very well save your life. We also ask that you acknowledge and execute the 6 ft. social distancing guidelines as well.
