Obituary For Patricia Ann Helmly

Patricia Corban Helmly, 81, of Maxeys, GA left this life as she lived it, a most gracious lady at the home of her daughter in Lexington, GA, Friday, May 22, 2020. She had been with her daughter during the COVID-19 Shelter in Place requirements.

Patricia was the wife of the late Hugh A. Helmly and the mother of Hugh, Richard, Linda, John and Mark. Grandmother to Steven, Hugh III, Troy, Dathan, Blake, Daniel, Hannah, Kayla, Rhet and Jake. Honorary grandchildren Morgan and Dylan. Great Grandmother to Steven, Jr., Liam, Aaron and Aria.

Born on December 7, 1938 in Gloster, Mississippi. She was the youngest daughter to Grover Cleveland Corban and Lois Whittington Corban and was the last surviving child from a family of 12 grown Corban children. Her father called her his high heel daughter and to her Mama she was her baby, Patsy. As a late in life child to such a big family, she was raised by her parents, aunts, sisters, brothers, cousins all in Gloster. She visited her brother who was serving in the US Navy in Alabama in 1956 and there met, then married Hugh A. Helmly.

Patricia was blessed with many wonderful gifts and was known for her talent and creativity, especially through her beautiful paintings. She leaves a legacy of beauty, charm, humility, and kindness through her good works and her children.

A family sunset service will be held at 5 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Maxeys, GA on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

Buds and Bows is the local florist in Crawford, GA and the family of Patricia ask that you consider a contribution to Oglethorpe Community Christmas Program, a local nonprofit that not only fulfills wishes for families in need at Christmas, but helps families in need throughout the year.

Donations may be made to Oglethorpe Community Christmas, 143 Bowan Farm Road, Crawford, Georgia, 30630 in honor of Patricia C. Helmly.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Barrett Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel ~ "Providing Service From The Heart".
