Mrs. Carrie Vernell Tisdale Rainey, daughter of the late Charlie Robert and the late Fannie Bell Tisdale was born February 10, 1941 in Lunenburg County, VA and departed this life May 16, 2020 in VCU-Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. At an early age she was baptized and joined New Grove Baptist Church, Kenbridge, VA. She attended the Lunenburg Public Schools.

Carrie was married to the late George Junius Rainey and to this union six children were born.

She worked as a farmer for many years until her health began to decline.

In her spare time she enjoyed watching TV, her soap operas and loved cooking for her family.

Carrie leaves to mourn 6 children- Patricia Goode, Danville, VA; Gloria Phillips, George E. (Ruth) Rainey, Thomas Rainey, Carolyn Smith and Ronnie (Molly) Rainey, all of South Hill, VA; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; foster son-T.W. Crowder, Amelia, VA; 4 brothers- Charles (Amanda) Tisdale, Richmond, VA; William, Kenneth, and Curtis Tisdale, South Hill, VA; 4 sisters- Sarah Crenshaw, LaCrosse, VA; Josephine (Joseph) Ogburn and Fannie Mae White, Richmond, VA, and Mary Lou Branch, South Hill, VA; 2 brothers-in-law, Lewis (Mona) Rainey, South Hill, VA and Lawrence Rainey, Norfolk, VA; 2 sisters-in-law, Lonell Maddox, Kenbridge, VA and Jeanette (Calvin) Thompson, South Hill, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
