So sorry for the loss of our dear Uncle Zebron. My father is his younger brother Manor and was very close to Uncle Zebron. They were one year apart in age. My Dad has shared many stories about them growing up in Alabama and moving to Philadelphia when they were teens. Here is one story. When they asked their mother (we called her Momma Lena) if they could move to Philadelphia, she agreed but said they had to stay together. In Philadelphia, they both applied to work for Campbell Soup. Uncle Zebron was 18 and was hired, but my dad was only 17 and they could not hire him. My dad found a very good job in NJ and was happy. When Momma Lena found out they were apart she told Uncle Zebron to go get him and take him back to Philly. And that is what he did! Even from a distance "Mom" was watching over them and they were honoring and obeying her. They remained close during their years in Philadelphia. They loved to hunt, fish, play baseball together and were always Deacons and officers in their churches. They were devout Christians and raised their families that way. Our families were close and as cousins we had sleep- overs, and together we went to the beach in Atlantic City together, picnics in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia Philly baseball games and of course church services and activities. We were blessed to have Uncle Zebron and Aunt Ivorye and we will always remember them for caring and loving us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family. My father Deacon Manor Prewitt Sr. was very close to Deacon Zebron Prewitt. They were one year a part and were close growing up in Alabama and remained close in Philadelphia. Here is story he told me a couple of days ago after he had a dream about hunting with Uncle Zebron. They hunted in Alabama as boys and continued to hunt small game like pheasant and quail and deer. One day they were hunting in Woodstown NJ and my father shot a deer. They were preparing to tie the legs together to carry it to the car when Uncle Zebron put the 200-pound deer on his back and carried it to the car- which dad says was quite a distance. Uncle Zebron was not only tall and strong physically but also strong in character, values, and kindness. Thank you, God, for the life of Deacon Zebron Prewitt. They are no words to express the loss. Praying for the family. Memory by Deacon Manor Prewitt Sr. (as told to Carol Prewitt Jones)
