Obituary For SSG (Ret.) Frank Coleman, Sr.

SSG (Ret.) Frank L. Coleman, Sr, 68, of Elizabethtown, KY, died on May 27, 2020 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Coleman was a native of Shuqualak, MS and the son of the late Leoner Hudson and Lillie Mae Jenkins. He was formerly married to Janet D. Coleman of Elizabethtown, KY.

Mr. Coleman graduated from Reed Elementary School in Shuqualak, MS and was the valedictorian at Noxubee County High School in Mason, MS. in December 1971 which was the first graduating class after the courts ruled in favor of school desegregation.

Mr. Coleman joined the U. S. Army in February 1971 and served in many locations including Desert Storm and Fort Knox. He retired in April 1991 as Staff Sergeant.

Survivors include two sons, Frank L. Coleman, Jr., of Elizabethtown, KY and Christopher E. Coleman of Indianapolis, IN; two God-children, Christina Turner and Lorenzo Mack both of Elizabethtown, KY; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Percell & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 am on Friday, June 5, 2020 also at Percell & Sons Funeral Home.

I met Frank in 1967 he dated my friend.Our friendship started in our sophomore year. Imagine this Frank and his friends Charles, Leonard,and Leon singing in talent shows at school Leon lead singer (AKA Smokey)the rest backup.We stayed in touch over the years I married his cousin.Frank visited when he could but called often especially holidays.We would chat for hours on speakerphone the three of us.From the time I met him I was always trying to keep him in check.(smile) My last call was Mother's Day 2020 he called cheerful as always we chatted a while about his health and his Kids and his Grands he Loved Uou All.
