Obituary For Mr. James Lewis Counts, Sr.

James Lewis Counts, Sr. made his transition into Heaven on May 24,2020, at The Place Nursing Home. James was the son of the late Roosevelt and Pauline Counts. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Roosevelt Counts, Walter Counts,Elijah Counts and Patsy Martin; and son, Myrthell Counts. James attended Martha Schofield High School in Aiken, South Carolina and enjoyed singing. He was a member of the gospel group called the Gospel Rolling Stones. He worked at SRS formerly known as DuPont and later became a self-employed painter for several years until he retired. James leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife of sixty-one years, Dorothy Counts; children, James (Alma) Counts, Hephzibah, GA, David (Sharon) Counts, Aiken, SC, Moses (Sheila) Counts, Hephzibah, SC, Paul Counts, Augusta, GA, Rose Counts, Augusta,GA, Gail (Dwight) Wyatt, Augusta, GA, Leon (Myra) Counts and David (Mini) McKie, N Augusta, SC; daughter-in-law, Diane Counts, Hephzibah, GA; twenty-one grandchildren thirty-five great-grandchildren; brothers, Reverend George (Cora) Counts and Wilbur (Cassandra) Counts; sisters, Mildred Williams, Aiken, South Carolina, Rebecca Blocker, Clearwater, Florida, Sadie Morgan, Aiken, South Carolina, Sally Mae Wright, Aiken, South Carolina and Alice Counts, Augusta, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Counts, Aiken, SC and Mamie Hayes, Jacksonville, Florida; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
