Me Merritt was the last surviving member of my 'village fathers' growing up on Renner Ave (Newark). I'll always and forever love him for the man he helped me become, and the Merritt family as my own.

Uncle Clyde, the longest living uncle of my fourteen uncles, was surely my special blessing. After the demise of Granddad, he became the family patriarch. He was a loving, caring brother to his sister, Doris, my Mom and to my Dad, such that many people thought he was my Dad's brother. When I retired and relocated to Richmond, Uncle Clyde welcomed me by saying that his home was always open to me and it was. For each member in the family there is a painful void. Until you welcome me again. With Love, Your niece, Joyce (Bunny)

Hey Dad, Sorry I can't be there in person to celebrate your life, but you know that I loved you very much. You always treated me as if I could never put a foot wrong, and that I was a light of your life. I will miss you, but am comforted that you are at peace, and with your family in heaven (although I know that it is going to be a crazy and LOUD reunion!). Stephanie (Pinky!), Tampa, FL
