Obituary For Lucille Elliott

Miss Lucille E. Elliott, 98, of 330 West College Ave. Apt. A 2 Shelby, NC passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Cleveland County, NC on April 17, 1922 to the late Chancy Elliott and Leona Bostic Elliot.

Miss Elliott graduated from Green Bethel High School where she played basketball. She was a lifelong lover of sports. She was a member of Brooks Chapel United Methodist Church where she was very active until her health declined. Miss Elliott’s employment included G.T. McSwain, the Snack Shop in Boiling Springs and the Hamrick Family. Even though she did not have children of her own, she played a very active role in helping to raise several children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Grady I. Elliott, Thurman James Elliott, Sam Elliott, George Elliott and John Lee Elliott; one sister, Bertha Jolly; one niece, Eloise Wilson and two nephews, Grady Elliott, Jr. and Nicholas Elliott.

Fond memories of her are left to her five nieces, Lois Wynn (William) of Brevard, NC, Brenda Elliott of Hendersonville, NC, Barbara Harvard of Beltsville, MD, Rose Webber of Shelby and her special caregiver, Mary Sue Jolly of Mooresboro, NC; nephews, Cail Elliott (Mary) of Gastonia, NC, Keith Elliott (Nina) of Knoxville, TN, James Elliott (Frances) of Morganton, NC, Andrew Brooks (Ladonna) of Shelby, Billy Bridges of Shelby and special nephew, Don Jolley of Shelby; children she helped rear, Zach Wilson, Antoine Brown, Sonya Canstler and Celest Ingram; special friend, Dorothy “Dot” Wilson of Shelby and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Miss Elliott will be private. A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at Brooks Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Lucille is truly a gem. She was a woman of great faith and wisdom as well a generous give. She had a great memory. She could remember only my children birthdays but my children, too. We truly going to miss her faith, love, devotion, and smile. The Little family.
