Norene Baker was born on October 6, 1949, to the late Clara Vaughn Baker and the late George Baker in Russell County, AL. She received her elementary and middle school education at Sandfort High School in Russell County, AL and graduated from Oliver High School in 1967. After high school, she matriculated at Knoxville College, in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she chose to major in Psychology and graduated with a B.A. degree.

She enjoyed many outdoor activities. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing tennis and swimming. She was an avid walker. Until her health failed, she could be seen most days taking long walks.

Norene accepted Christ in 1968, and she united with Greater St. John Baptist Church in Crawford, AL. She later joined Spirit Filled Ministries Church in Columbus, GA, where she served faithfully in the Missionary Ministry including holding the office of President. She went out into the community evangelizing with other members of the Missionary Ministry.

Even during illness, she used her gifts to serve. She could be seen many times helping to clean the church while faithfully carrying out other duties including collecting clothing for the poor. She was a true disciple, a life long learner and follower of Christ. She completed a Bible Correspondence course from Herbert W. Armstrong College. She read the entire Bible each year for more than 5 years along with her good friend and sister in Christ, Patricia Stone Johnson.

During her career, she worked as a realtor and Associate Broker in Columbus, GA and as a resident property manager in Las Vegas, Nevada. She also worked as a guest teacher in the Public Schools system.

On Sunday, May 31, 2020, God called Norene home. She made a peaceful transition from this life to her eternal home. My sister is missed immensely by her Las Vegas, Nevada families from all walks of life. Even during her illness she made time and forced energy enough to travel cross country to visit us. Visits during which we all looked forward to simply being together here in her other home. She was such a kind, loyal and loving person to everyone she encountered. Noreen was quiet but her presence was always felt. Our sisterhood spans decades...she has a special place in our hearts...
