My deepest expression of sympathy to the family and friends of Vivian Wilson McNorton. May it comfort you to know that I share your sorry. I remember Ms. McNorton as a caring, competent and dedicated teacher at the time that I served as assistant principal and principal of Baker School. Her impact upon her students will be deep and lasting. Would that we could have many more dedicated educators such she. She gave her best and now may she enjoy the peace of eternal rest and happiness. Lois Harrison-Jones, Retired Superintendent, Richmond Public Schools

My deepest sympathies go out to Ms. McNorton's family and friends. She was my teacher in 5th grade at Baker Elementary School in Richmond in 1971. I have always remembered her as one of my best and favorite teachers and she was such a positive influence. I ran in to her years later, when I was a student at the University of Richmond, and had the opportunity to thank her for the positive impact and influence she had on me. She was a wonderful lady and I've never forgotten how much she focused on each individual student to help them thrive, not only academically, but as a person - teaching values of honesty, integrity, respect and equality. Almost 50 years later, when I think of her and being in her class, I smile, and not only remember her teaching us, but the warmth, caring, and force of her wonderful personality, which was bigger than life. Ms. McNorton, thank you for all you did for me, and countless other students over the years. Bryan Slater, Washington, DC

Ms. McNorton has been a positive influence in my life since she was my 3rd grade teacher. She was like a Mom..always there to provide more than an education from the textbooks. I am honored to have had the privilege to have her in my life. Her gift of love will always be cherished. She had such an impact on my childhood that I decided at a very young age to become a teacher. After completing two careers in other professions, I am able to live my dream profession; teaching. The most beautiful moment came when I was able to tell her all of this in person. Forever loved, Arthea Taylor J. China Phoenix, Arizona
