Samuel Nathaniel Fontaine, affectionately known as Sam or Sammy, was born on October 24, 1947 to the late Floyd and Iris Fontaine of Ridgeway, Virginia. He went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.

He is survived by his children, Lyvonnia M. Fontaine, Andre S. Fontaine (Carolyn), Maury C. Fontaine Sr., and Geri M. Fontaine; a brother, Richard C. Fontaine; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and two nephews; his dog, Mr. Caddie and a host of family and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Samuel N. Fontaine II; his parents, Floyd and Iris Fontaine; his sister and brother, Lyvonnia Dillard and Alfred Fontaine.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM (EST) at POPE FUNERAL HOME,5538 MARLBORO PIKE,FORESTVILLE, MD, 20747

Interment will be held at Hailey Family Cemetery Henry County, VA, on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. Burial entrusted to Hairston Funeral Home, Martinsville, VA 24112.
