David was born on December 22, 1949, he was the sixth child born to the late Cephus and Maude Ethel Robinson Hogsett. David attended Velma Jackson School in Camden, MS.
Early in life he professed a belief in Christ and later joined St. James Church Deliverance Ministry in Durant, MS where he remained a faithful member until his death.
On November 25, 1978, he united in holy matrimony to Louise Roby, to this union three children were born. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
David enjoyed hunting & fishing. He also had a love for music and singing, this led him to join The Mighty Soul Travelers of Durant, MS in 1992.
David worked at MP&I and I-55/I-49 Carpet Lumber Company. Later he became employed with Memphis Hardwood and Deep South Lumber Company, where he retired in December 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cephus and Maude Hogsett, one sister Lucille Myles and three brothers Sam Weasley, Izaiah Hogsett and Cepheus Hogsett, Jr.
His memories will be cherished by his wife of 41 years, Louise Hogsett, three children Radrico, Porsha and David Jaaml (Kristy) Hogsett all of Durant, MS; Joffie Hogsett of Durant, MS who he raised as his own. Four grandchildren: Rakeem, David Jaaml Jr., Ja'Mya and Craleah Magee Hogsett; one sister, Rosie (Donnie) Patterson of Durant, MS and seven brothers: James (Evangelist Nancy) Hogsett of Durant, MS; Willie (Lillie) Hogsett, Samuel Hogsett, Donald Hogsett all of Goodman, MS; Daniel (Merlene) Hogsett of Sallis, MS; Elijah (Stephanie) Hogsett of Carthage, MS; and Joe Hogsett of Rollinsford, New Hampshire, one aunt Minnie Jones of Durant, MS; mother-in-law, Alberta Martin; and two brother-in-laws, Jerry & Tyrone Lewis, all of Milwaukee, WI and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
