I was so shocked and saddened to hear my Fraternity Brother Maurice has passed on. He is truly one of the kindest souls I have ever met. I have many great memories of him during the time we pledged Alpha Phi Alpha in the fall of 1987. The last time I saw Maurice was in 2012 when I came to town and we went out for lunch. I never thought that would be the last time I would see him. I am praying for the Phillips family and Charissa and all the cousins I went to school with at MBC. Truly he is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We will miss him dearly. Pastor Dean Dixon

I left Atlanta and relocated to Florida a few months ago. Before that, Maurice and I spent time together very often! He was often a guest at my home, sometimes for days! We would do our favorite thing, SING!! There was no better voice than Maurice's and no sweeter of a soul! I am devastated but, I am thankful he is no longer in pain! I do not attend wakes or funerals, but, the love I have for Maurice will not let me miss his viewing, so, my husband and I will be driving from Florida! He spoke often of his parents and told me many great stories about his grandmother! I am so sorry for your loss, please know you as parents created someone truly special and incomparable! We were blessed to have known him!

To the family of Maurice, we have been heart broken since we heard of his passing. He was so talented and loved by all who knew him. He sang at our commitment ceremony July 2009 and our own families just fell in love with Maurice and have always inquired regarding his well being. Joseph and I will forever miss you Maurice.
