Obituary For Rev. Thelma Sowell Mack

Reverend Thelma Louise Mack was born on June 21, 1952 to the late Robert Lee Sowells Sr. and Hattie Jane Sowells. Reverend Mack departed this earthly life on Thursday, June 18, 2020.

She attended the Dillon County Public Schools and graduated from Dillon High School in the class of 1971. She attended Allen University and later became employed by Dixianna Mills for eighteen years. Reverend Mack accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and manifested her love for him daily. She established her prayer ministry in the early 90's where she prayed for her family, community members and anyone she came in contact with. One of her favorite songs was “Touching Jesus is All that Matters!” Reverend Mack was a member of Miracle Deliverance Evangelistic Center, under the leadership of Pastor Mary Lewis. She rejoined St. Matthew AME Church where she served faithfully as an Associate Minister. She received her Deacon Ordination in 1997 and her Local Elders in 1999, both obtained by Bishop John Hurst Adams. She was a member of the Senior Choir and an advisor for the Thursday night prayer line ministry. Reverend Mack was married to Alexander Mack and they had one loving son, Siran Mack. Her daughter, Sylvia Sowells and two sisters, Ruby Lee and Karen Ann Sowells preceded her in death. Reverend Mack leaves to cherish her loving memories ~ her son: Siran Mack; ten siblings: Robert Lee (Rosetta) Sowells Jr. of Austin, TX, Hattie (Labon) Bolar of Omaha, NE, Brenda (Levon) Alls of Atlanta, GA, James (Tammy) Sowells, Kathy Sowells, Eric (Darlene) Sowells, Keith Sowells, Brian (Andria) Sowells, Mary (Bo) Mack all of Dillon, SC, Shannon Blount of St. Pauls, NC; father-n-law: Eddie Mack; sister-n-law: Diane Mack; brothers-n-law: Bobby Mack, Charles Bethea and Larry Bethea; two aunts: Louise Lighty and Ruth Pittman; three special friends: Rev. Lether Bunkem, Daisy Lloyd, Gloria Quick and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
