Mr. Clarence Phillips was born March 12, 1952 in Hurtsboro, AL to the late Rufus Phillips, Sr. and the late Rebecca Phillips. He was called home on June 18, 2020. He was the youngest of five children. Clarence graduated from Russell County High School in 1970 where he would go on to relocate to East Chicago, IN. He began his career in Indiana where he worked 46 years at Arcelor Mittal, one of the largest steel and mining companies known nationwide. He retired in 2017. He had a work ethic that was like no other. He was respected for his dedication and hard work. But this was not only at work, it was displayed in his personal life as well. If anybody was going to support you or show up, it was Clarence. You could always count on him. In his past time, Clarence enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and traveling. He especially enjoyed making his yearly trips back home. Clarence had a big heart with a presence that made anyone smile. To know Clarence, you knew he was a person that loved to have a good conversation and talk about work.

Through his personal health journey, he never complained. Instead, he fought with pride, strength, and perseverance. He trusted in God's plan for his life and showed us all how to keep the faith and keep moving.

Clarence leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted daughter LaTonya Phillips-Albury (Pindiling Albury); three grandchildren, Malasia Johnson, Endris Albury & Trinity Albury; four siblings, Alberta Phillips, Rufus Phillips (Barbara Phillips), Betty Phillips and Juanita Reed; one niece; nephews, cousins and friends.

He was the Clarence train at work. When I would get home a little later, I would tell my wife I was held up by the Clarence train. Good memories. I will surely miss this loving man.
