Obituary For Mr. Jerome “Chubby” McBurrough (56)

Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him.

It is with a sorrowful heart that the staff and management of Harrington Funeral Home Inc., stand along side the McBurrough Family in this time of the earthly transition of a dedicated father, a family man and friend.

Mr. Jerome “Chubby” McBurrough, age 56, of Valdosta, Georgia was standing guard at the Gates of Heaven and on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at South Georgia Medical Center, it was his last shift. On that day “Jerome” made a request unto the Lord, He said “I am tired and I am ready to go Home” and Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ honored his request (Philippians 4:6) as a Faithful Servant.

Jerome was born on October 29, 1963 and a graduate of Valdosta High School, and furthered his education completing college. He started his career in United States Army Reserves, serving until his retirement. He was employed with the Valdosta State Prison, where he also retired.

Life Celebration Services for Mr. Jerome “Chubby” McBurrough, Will held at Riverview Memorial Gardens - 3945 North Valdosta Road. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 11:00 AM.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jerome a few years back, he had such a pleasant demeanor and his presence was that of someone who was kind. He and Pam hung out with me and my family when I visited Georgia and I am so happy that I had an opportunity to get to know Jermome. To Pam and the entire McBurrough Family, my thoughts and prayers are with you on what I know will be a very difficult day. Falecia Rodriguez, North Aurora, Illinois.

Chubby is 8yrs older than me. When I was 16yrs old, he had an intimidating appearance. I didn't know whether to call him Chubby,Jerome or Mr. McBurrough or what so, I kept my mouth shut. It wasn't until a few years ago that I felt the ice melt away and I saw him differently. In the last year or so between him and I, there were more smiles, handshakes, fist bumps and even conversations being exchanged. I learned years too late that he's actually a great guy. I feel like I lost a new friend. My condolences to the family.. God Bless. ES
