She was born in Mount Union, PA, daughter of the late James W. and Zulene B. (Brown) Tucker, a graduate of Linden High School in Linden, New Jersey, attended HACC, retired from Tyco Electronics, a member of Baptist Fellowship Church, where she served on the Choir.
In the community, Emily was a member of Omnia Bona Club, Esther Chapter #1 OES, Himyar Court #97 and Rehab Court #36. In her leisure, she enjoyed traveling, singing and exercising. Her atriculation abilities were outstanding and was often described as "so proper" or "eloquent auntie" by her nieces and nephews. Emily was the widow of Joseph Newkirk and in addition to him and her parents; she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Newkirk, Jr. and her sisters, Florence Washington and Barbara Jones. She leaves to celebrate her life and to cherish precious memories of her, her daughters, Zulene A. Newkirk and Linda Love Newkirk Thomas; her sister, Phyllis Jimerson; her nine grandchildren; her seven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Her life will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Friday, June 26th in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing from 11:00 a.m. until 12 Noon.
Covid 19 guidelines will be observed with masks and six foot social distancing for all attendees.
