Spartanburg, SC- Juanita Rose Gilbert entered into eternal rest on June 29, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Melvin "MC" Nicholas, Sr. and the late Doris Alberta Nicholas. Ms. Gilbert was born on September 5, 1946.

She was a proud graduate of Morris College. She went on to serve as an English teacher for the South Carolina public school system, and then for the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

She faithfully served her beloved Calidonia Missionary Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher and as Vice-Chairperson of the Deacon Board. She was ordained as the first female deacon of the Ridge Hill Education Association.

Ms. Gilbert leaves to celebrate her homecoming two daughters, Mikka Gilbert of Lexington, SC, Kaleta (Myron) Shuler of Spartanburg, SC; one sister, Johnnie Mae Nicholas of Greenville, SC; three brothers, Modell (Audrey) Nicholas, Melvin (Rosa Bell) Nicholas, Jr., and Gene (Mae Bell) Nicholas, all of Batesburg, SC; two granddaughters, Mychaela Gilbert and Mychiah Brunson; and one grandson, Malachi Shuler; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of the Life of Juanita Rose Gilbert will be on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at 9AM at Calidonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1888 Old 96 Indian Trail, Batesburg, SC.
