Obituary For Albert Johnson, Sr.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., Society Cemetery, I-55 Frontage Road, Terry, MS 39170.

Mr. Albert Johnson, Sr., 77, of Terry, MS passed away on Monday, June 30, 2020 at Willow Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Byram, MS. Albert, the oldest of four children, was born in Lexington, MS to loving parents, the late Obie Ross Johnson, Sr., and Emma Lou Rule Johnson on January 21, 1943. He attended high school in Lexington, MS and, at an early age, confessed Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized. After graduating high school, Albert moved to Jackson, MS to live with his uncle and family. There, he was united with family at New Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was employed with Frito Lay for several years prior to his retirement. A very active church member, worker and solo singer, Albert was a devoted and loving father and husband. Albert was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Genoa Rutledge, his parents, his sisters Rodella Johnson and Maxine Johnson, his brother Obie Ross Johnson, Jr., and his son Albert Johnson, Jr. Albert’s life will be forever cherished by his three beautiful daughters: Jerenita Marie Johnson of Boaz, AL, Deidra Ann Johnson of Alpharetta, GA and Emily Michele Johnson-Peyton (Jeff) of Jackson, MS, his children with the late Margie Genoa Rutledge. Albert is also survived by his loving wife, Margaret Holly Johnson of Terry, MS and his step-children Willa Holly of Terry, MS, Myranda Holly of Terry, MS, Jennifer Fields of Brandon, MS and Nakeita Kendrick (Mark) of Byram, MS; devoted sister-in-law, Emma Jean Johnson Gladney (Horatio) of Columbus, GA; daughter-in-law, Dynisha Morrison; two grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, cousins and friends.
