Michael Lee Stackhouse

Michael Lee Stackhouse, better known as "Mike", "Stack", or "Michael Lee", was the son of the late Sammie Fullard and Janice B. Stackhouse. He was born on February 2, 1959, and peacefully entered into rest in Grand Strand Regional Hospital on July 2, 2020 in Myrtle Beach, SC at the age of 61.

Mike is a graduate of Floyds High School Class of 1977 and attended Morris College where he became a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He was known by his famiy and friends as the person who would bring life into a room. Family and friends gatherings was extremely important to him. Whenever opportunity presented you would catch him playing in his younger years softball and basketball throughout Horry and Marion County with his friends. Mike enjoyed sports so much that he became a coach for several years. Just recently, Mike played golf until his health interfere. He found Christ at an early age and rededicated his life back to Christ and joined Cedar Branch Missionary Baptist Church. He was a man of many talents and gifts. He was employed at Horry County Schools, Loris Community Hospital, manager of numerous restaurants, and United Funeral Home, where he worked for 25 years.

"THE STEPS OF A GOOD MAN IS ORDERED BY THE LORD, AND HE DELIGHTETH IN HIS WAY" Michael often express his greatest joy was marrying his wife, becoming a father, grandfather, and a great grandfather. Michael and Gwen prayed "LORD PLEASE LET ME LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO SEE MY CHILDREN GROW UP TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES." God did just that and more. God allowed Michael one more time to love on all his grandchildren. Michael did not mind last minute calls to babysit his 14 grandchildren. He did not mind last minute calls for help even if he was just getting done with his mail route. Oh how Mike would smile when he witness and took part in his children, grandchildren, and may other family and friends accomplishments. I can't express it enough how extremely important it was to Michael Lee Stackhouse that family and friends gathers. Michel Stackhouse would often express "LORD I THANK YOU". He was extremely proud and count it as a blessing and privilege to be part of the United Funeral Home Family; Michael looked to them as his parents. Michael was always eager and countlessly reinforce to his children how to be kind and treat people with respect especially to those who's good to him. He leave to cherish his memories to his wife Gwendolyn Stackhouse, two daughters Tremelia (Chris) Gore, Trenekia (Kelvin) Hemingway, one son Michael Dee (Arlisha) Stackhouse all of Loris, SC. Two brothers Staffon (Marissa) Stackhouse, Gary (Marchelle) Stackhouse, four sisters Pearlia (Gani) Ogunsanya, Carrie Fullard, Paula (Tommy) Leonard, Martha ( Michael) Carmichael and Robin Gilmore. One Uncle, Two Aunts, 14 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Viewing and visitation for Michael will be held Monday, July 6, 2020 from 4-7 pm at United Funeral Home in the D.L. Grate Memorial Chapel. *EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO WEAR MASK WHILE VISITING*

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 2pm at Cedar Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Riggins of Cedar Branch Missionary Baptist Church will be the eulogist. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
