Obituary For Henry Clay Lindsey

Graveside service for Mr. Henry Clay Lindsey, 80, will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at Lineville Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020 at the funeral home.

Mr. Henry Clay Lindsey began life’s journey on Saturday, June 1, 1940, in Lineville, Alabama to the union of R. C. Lindsey and Dovie Sears Lindsey.

Mr. Lindsey was a long time member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Henry was a graduate of Clay County Training School. After completing high school, Henry furthered his education at Southern Union Community College. On February, 19, 1964, Henry enlisted in the United States Army. He served honorably until February 11, 1966. During his time of service, he earned the Vietnam Service Medal Marksman. Henry enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching Alabama football. He loved all sports, but often enjoyed baseball, golf, football and basketball. Additionally, in his spare time he would help other and was a big hearted giver. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. On February 15, 1975, Henry united in holy matrimony to Gwenda Faye Newell. They made their forever home and raised their family in Lineville, Alabama.

Henry began his journey to eternal life on the evening of Friday, July 10, 2020. She was preceded in passing by his wife of forty year, Gwenda Faye Lindsey; his parents, R. C. and Dovie Lindsey; three brothers, Jessie B. Lindsey, Donald Lindsey and Ernest C. Lindsey; and five sisters, Annie P. McClain, Lovie D. McClain, Julie Lee Garrett, Frances D. Diggs and Ora D. Lindsey.

He leaves to cherish the joys of his life: two daughters, Nichole Lindsey and Michelle Lindsey of Lineville, Alabama; three sons, LaDondric Lindsey of Lineville, Alabama, Henry C. Lindsey, Jr. of Oxford, Alabama and Michael Lindsey of Lineville, Alabama; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis R. Lindsey of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and Jimmy P. (Ronnie S.) Barker of Lineville, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
