A private ceremony for the family will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from the Bright Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia. Words of Comfort and Encouragement will be given by Reverend Dr. Raymond Polite. Services will be streamed Facebook Live from the "Shipps Funeral Home" Facebook page.

Mr. John L. Covin, Sr., son of the late Mr. Henry Covin and the late Mrs. Jessie McGee, was born in Sylvester, Georgia on November 29, 1930.
John was educated in the Worth County Public School System at that time. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Porter Corner Baptist Church. He served as a member of the Deacon Board.
John was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mrs. Mae Beulah Ford-Covin.
On Monday, July 13, 2020, John answered his final call and entered Eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mae Beulah Covin.
John leaves a legacy of family to cherish his memories: his children, Jessie L. Covin, John H. Covin (Joyce) both of Sylvester, Georgia, Bertha C. McDonald of Albany, Georgia, Carrie L. Covin of Union City, Georgia, Helen Covin (Garnett), Cherry D. Covin, both of Winder, Georgia, Beulah M. Covin (Javier) of Warner Robins, Georgia, John L.Covin, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia, Gregory A. Covin (Olivia) of Dublin, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; a brother, Joe Nathan McGee of Palatka, Florida; a stepsister, Sallie Odom (James) of Albany, Georgia; a stepbrother, Johnny Hudley of Albany, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
