Obituary For Mrs. Willie Mae Lockhart

Mrs. Willie Mae Lockhart entered into rest Friday, July 10, 2020.

Willie Mae Lockhart was born December 8, 1922 to Willie Lowe and Carrie Bell Bussey of Columbia County, Georgia. She was educated in the Columbia and Richmond County School Systems. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and joined the Mt. Enon Baptist Church in Evans, Georgia.

Willie Mae married the late Deacon Albert Lockhart and they made their ‘house a home’ in Augusta, Georgia. She worked outside the home in domestic service for many years, employed by various residents in the Augusta area.

At home, Willie Mae loved to keep a neat, clean, and organized house and was very meticulous about her personal hygiene and wardrobe. She was known to be an outspoken person with a loving intent. She loved to laugh and was prone to spontaneous outbursts of laughter.

Willie Mae leaves to cherish her loving and enduring memories: her daughters, Sarah L. Martin, Diana L. Cody, Cara J. McHugh (Phil), and Mary M. Lockhart; her son and caregiver for 8+ years, Alfreddie Lockhart, all living in Augusta, Georgia; one sister, Edna Dent, of Evans, GA; five grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and assistant caregivers, Cynthia Adams, Brian T. Lewis, and Marcia R. Williams.

Also cherishing her memories are life-long friends, Lena Thomas and Lucinda Martin, both living in Augusta, Georgia.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. from Westover Memorial Park, with Reverend Robert L. Ramsey.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
