Chandra Vetta “Vee” “Etta” Cothron was born April 5, 1958 at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri to the late SFC (Retired) William McKinley Cothron, Sr. and Mamie Lois Wright Cothron.
She was employed by the Army & Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) at Fort Gordon, Georgia and she was also employed by the BI-LO Corporation until April 2019. She graduated from Glenn Hills High School on June 2, 1977 and received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development from Augusta Technical Community College in Augusta, Georgia.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age in Augusta, Georgia and attended the First Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Etta, Vee, Auntie, Grandma, Mommy will truly be missed for her great sense of humor, love, and loyalty to all.
She leaves to cherish her memories, long-time companion, Samuel Lee Avery Sr.; one daughter, Shayla La’ Nece Cothron-Avery; four grandsons, Chrishard Elijah Cothron-Avery, Cameron Kali Wilkes, Breylin Zaire Cothron-Avery, Landon Felix Harris; and one granddaughter, London Paige Harris, who preceded her in death; three brothers, William “Kenny” McKinley Cothron, Jr. (Dallas, Texas), Alvin “Stan” (Rhonda) Cothron (Columbia, South Carolina), and Lamar “Lucky” Hill who preceded her in death; five sisters, Phyllis L. Cothron-Pierce who preceded her in death, Doris ”Dee Dee” Cothron (Augusta, Georgia), Gloria “Glo” Cothron-Hilton (Fayetteville, North Carolina), Marie Cothron who preceded her in death and Sharon Cothron-Hammond (Augusta, Georgia); one Great Aunt, Marie Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Public viewing will be Monday, July 20, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary. A service will be held later.
