I can still see Mary walking to her seat in church and barely getting settled before she would pop up from her seat, start swaying & clapping to praise her Lord. She was a gift here on earth to all who knew her & looked forward to fellowshipping with her. Neighbors & church friends will always miss her but being with her family in Texas & So. Carolina and now in heaven was also a gift. Mary brought light wherever she was. RIP Mary. Jackie Whyte

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Hines. One of my fondest memories has been for the past several years, on the Saturday before Mother's Day, my phone would ring, and the caller id would display the name, Mary Hinds. When I would answer, I would first hear that contagious laugh. Then, Mrs. Hines would say, "Tomorrow is Mother's Day, and I need a favor." Of coarse, I knew she hadn't gotten Lavona's gift in the mail, so my task was to get "Vona" a Mother's Day gift, and make it a surprise. I will miss Mrs. Hines, and our annual ritual. To the family: You will find comfort in the love and the wonderful memories of Mrs. Hines. Faye Johnson, Lexington, Ky

There is much sadness for me at the passing of Mary. We shared many Good times together which will linger on for me. One of the fondest memory we shared and often laughed about had to do with her flip top phone. Enroute to Virginia the only phone in the car that was still functional was her flip top coupled with her handy dandy hand written address book to get us to where we going. A Blessing! Two weeks ago she got a New phone and we laughed, joked, and made plans to get good use of it. Although those plans were not to be, the bond we've shared has not been broken. My heart is full of precious memories of our friendship and love. May the work she's done speak for her. Barbara Greene

I am saddened by the passing of my cousin MJ. There are so many unforgettable memories we shared as children growing up together. She lived a good life and was so happy the last time I talked to her. I'm sorry, I can't be with my family as she is laid to rest, but there is comfort in knowing that she is at peace with our savior Jesus Christ. To my family "Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers". Wilhelmina Bethea Riverview, Florida

One of my favorite memories of MJ happened over 30 years ago while some of us still lived in New York. I was going through my party phase and MJ and her husband Kenny came to the first one at the Masonic Temple in Brooklyn. It was a magical night, MJ and Kenny stayed on the floor the entire evening. They put the young folks to shame. What I remember the most was the look on her face. MJ was happy and she and Kenny were in love. The lesson I took away from that moment was, it's never to late to be happy and never to late to LOVE. So to the family it's alright to be sad, but not for long please commence to loving one another as a family. Love never dies.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our dear neighbor and friend Mary. She has been a treasured part of our family for many years. We were sad when she relocated to Texas but knew she would be well taken care of. Our heart is heavy but know she is with her Lord. To the family: You have our deepest sympathy and are in our prayers. To Mary: Rest in peace dear friend and know you will never be forgotten. Earl and Gloria Singleton, Palm Coast Florida
