Obituary For Kenny Smith

Private services for Kenny Smith, 60, of 127 Magnolia Circle, Allendale, S.C., were held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Beautiful Gate Baptist Church with Reverend Gilbert Hill officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Kenny Smith affectionately known as “Shorty”, was born on September 8, 1959 in Allendale County, South Carolina to Beulah Rouse and Aldriage McKnight. He was reared in the home of the Haddie and Washington Smith.

Kenny was a graduate of Allendale-Fairfax High School. At an early age, he joined the Beautiful Gate Baptist Church. He was employed by Harden & Harden Tile Company for over 30 years, until he retired.

He was known for his warm heart, kind spirit and his loving green eyes along with the love he had for his family and friends alike.

Kenny was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Patricia Preacher Smith on February 13, 2008.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother and father, Hattie and Washington Smith; three brothers: Marvin McKnight, Levan Smith and Harold "Bubba" Smith; and one sister, Rosella Lofton.

Kenny leaves to cherish his fond memories, his loving wife Patricia Smith; his mother, Beulah Rouse of New York; his children: Patrick (Key) Preacher of San Diego, CA, Markel Johnson of Columbia, SC, Tario Preacher of Fort Riley, KS, Zachory Heyward Kenyarda Smith, Rakim Smith, Quashawn Preacher, Tyler Smith, Travarious Heyward, Darius Heyward, Adellia Preacher, Sade Harden, Tarielle Heyward, Olivia Ingram, Tytiyanna Heyward and Jayla Heyward all of Allendale, SC; six sisters: Richardene Fernandee, Earline (Gardell) Patterson, Janie (William) Knotts, Sharon McKnight all of Allendale, SC, Willene Smith of Barnwell, SC and Vera Doe of New York; two brothers: Hugo Lamar of Denmark, SC and Louis McKnight of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren including Peyton affectionately known as “Bookie” of the home; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends. Mr. Smith entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Agape Hospice House in Columbia, SC.

Visitation were held at the funeral home on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. Please adhere to COVID -19 precautions regarding social distancing. A mask is require for viewing.
