Maxcine Hunt

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 12:00 p.m., Garden Memorial Park, 8001 Highway 49, Jackson, MS 39209.

Remembering Ms. Maxcine Hunt who was affectionally known as “Mookie” by her siblings and “TT” by her nieces and nephews. Maxcine was born on January 11, 1941, in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Mack Hunt Sr., and Annie Bell Cotton Hunt, both of whom preceded her in death. Her oldest sister, Della Mae Hunt, and a special long-life friend, Servester Davis, Sr., preceded her in death. Maxcine accepted Christ at an early age at St. James Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Thomas Cornelius (T.C.) Simmons. Unfortunately, Maxcine was unable to attend services under the newly elected pastor of the church, Rev. Tony Montgomery Sr., due to underlying health conditions. Maxcine attended Sallie Reynolds Elementary School and Jim Hill High School. She spent her career working in the hotel service industry. Her first job was working at the historical Heidelberg Hotel in Jackson, MS on Capitol Street and later at the Marriott Hotel on Amite Street in Jackson, MS, until when she retired. Maxcine went to her eternal resting place on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at the Pleasant Hills Community Living Center on Raymond Road in Jackson, MS. She is survived by one sister, Doris McDougle; one brother, Mack Hunt, Jr., both of Jackson, MS; six nieces, Carolyn (Napoleon) White, Lydia (Kenneth) Williams, Gloria (Mickel) Smith, Marquita Willis, all of Jackson, MS; Jacqueline (Earnest) Sturgis of Terry, MS, and Shirley McDougle of San Bernardino, CA; two nephews, Marco (Joy) Hunt of New Orleans, LA; and Corey Willis of Jackson, MS; seven great nieces, Pamela (Lamar) Bolden, Alice Hunt, Marquita Hudson, Lakita McDougle, Dellaina Smith, Jamiayah Curry and Morghan Bolden; eight great nephews, Monterrius (Trina) Hunt, Jeremiah Sturgis, Joshua Sturgis, Cortavious Curry, Christopher White, Robbie Curry, Demonte Cooper and Jamel Bell; a loving caregiver, Roy Mangle; special friends, Stella Williams, Bro. Johnnie Mangum, and Sis. Carrie Mangum; and a host of additional relatives and friends.
