Obituary For Mr. John Lewis Hardnett

In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mr. John Lewis Hardnett. Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 24,2020 12:00noon at Bethel Original Free will Baptist Church. Viewing will be Thursday July 23, 2020 12:00 noon-4:00.

Mr. John Lewis Hardnett was born on February 20, 1940 in Manchester, Georgia to the late Andrew and Jennie M. Owens Hardnett. While growing up and desiring supportive work, he traveled to many areas of the Country later settling in Atlanta, Georgia. He was married to Lue Ethel Grimes for over 32 wonderful years. John was a long-time construction laborer and for a brief period served as a supervisor. He was a “Union Man” and was immensely proud to be a productive citizen. He accepted Christ and after his marriage he became a member of Bethel Original Free Will Baptist Church serving under the leadership of the late Bishop A. C. Speakman and Pastor Victor C. Speakman. He served as a (former) Trustee and for many years, drove the Church’s bus picking up Sunday School attendees and others needing transportation. John is survived by his devoted wife (Minister) Lue Ethel Grimes Hardnett; two sisters, Janice Hardnett and Mary Hardnett; two brothers, Willie Lee Hardnett and Willie Lenard Hardnett; step-sons, Richard E. Grimes, Norman (Valencia) Mathis and Darrell Mathis -whom he called “POPS”; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in law; a host of grand/great grand kids, nephews, nieces, cousins, beloved friends and former co-workers.
