My first memories of Sacostia was when were around 15 or 16 years old singing in the combined Breath of Life and Ephesus SDA youth choir. I remember the strong and close bond she had with her sister, Toree. In the fall of 2001 we both began our freshman year at Oakwood University. Though our paths crossed occasionally because of our different majors and mission interest groups on campus, she never ceased to remind you she was thinking of you and cared. I am truly shocked and saddened by this tragedy. Sacostia (aka Cocoa) meant so much to so many lives in her short life! It is truly devastating! My sincere condolences to her family, friends, and the community in which she faithfully served. May God's unending love comfort you always. ~Jewel Satterfield

Soror SaCoastia aka Cokes it was an absolute pleasure meeting and getting to know you during Val's wedding so many years ago. Your sweet spirit made me fall in love with your personality immediately. We had so much fun that weekend. I was so happy when I saw that you became law enforcement. Your family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Rest well my sweet, sweet Soror! ~ Mrs. Sharonda Newkirk

Beloved, Soror SaCoastia, our time together was too short but my memory of you will remain in my heart forever. During our virtual time together on June 5, 2020, your testimony was so pure. I was so blessed that I was compelled to send you the following text message, "Soror SaCoastia, Thank you for sharing your story last evening! I have so much admiration for your determination and courage. God has a special plan for you as you continue to recognize your worth and learn to love the person He created you to be. I LOVE YOU and God loves you more! Jeremiah 29:11" Your physical form may be gone but your spirit will live forever in the hearts of all who were truly blessed to know you. May all your beautiful memories bring comfort and PEACE to your family - Psalm 46:5. Praying for all with heartfelt sympathy and love, Soror Sheree Bryant

There are so many memories I could share about CoCo. From my first moments at Oakwood University with her as my Navigator in 2002, to the many choir trips and singing engagements to running into her just 3 years ago revisiting Oakwood to bring perspective students to view the school. My prayers, hugs, healing wishes, and thoughts go to the Williams family and all her friends and everyone who knew her. Rest in Peace CoCo. Love always, Sheena Forde

My Dear SaCoastia, I reminded you in a text on June 9th of our one-on-one conversation at a Fleming Island location which I will never forgot. I told you of how I walked away thinking how blessed I was to have women in my life such as yourself. I told you that my admiration for you was real. I told you that I had watched your development from afar and how you carried yourself. You had that humble Delta Spirit about yourself that set you apart from others. It was not arrogant by any means. You just understood "purpose". All of your struggles have been purposeful and you always sought a better version of "you" with every step. Soror, You are worthy to be admired and loved by all that knew you. I am honored to have known you and to have called you my sister in Delta, my soror. I will always remember you with fond memories and with love in my heard. Rest in peace my Dear SaCoastia. Patricia Mungin Godboldt

Our daughter in the Lord. From the bad haircut you gave yourself, pathfinder campouts, drum corps...high school and college graduations...marriage and joining Jacksonville's Finest - you will be forever in our hearts and minds. Our hearts are heavy but we know in our hearts and from what you displayed daily that you were the epitome of love and grace. Typing this hurts because you're not able to read it but until we meet again in heaven your presence, your laughter, your hugs, those Checkin on you texts and random drive ups in patrol car 390... will never be forgotten. Sleep in Peace my love and see you in the morning. Your Godly parents K&D Jackson

I talked u into trying out for basketball with me becuase i scared as heck...u did we both made the however they gave u the practice...shorts i laghed so hard and so did u( eventually) .I told when i grow up I wanted to be like your Aunt Tweet..we have the same name..Tasha. I have always admired u. You ended up following your aunts footsteps i thought that was dope!. You drove us to the place where we took our senior pics. Girl u got so many cool points!!! Over the years u never allowed us to lose contact for too long. I remember when u had ur first son...u drove all the way from Alabama in that Fred Sandford truck just to visit little ole me and to meet my 2 sons. You have always been there to listen when i needed a hear or to give that tough advice. Sacoastia you are one of few people to never change up on me. Ms. Althia and Toree...yall still my family. Cocoa, you are the second niece that has left me. I am so hurt inside. I remember talking you into applying for the counselor position at CTC. You went and blew that interview out of the water. Then when you informed me that you wanted to apply for police, I told you to go for it, and that I would have your back. One of the happiest times was pinning you on your Police graduation. When I read the message that you put under that photo on Facebook it really touched my heart it was truly a testimony about giving someone there flowers while they lived. Cocoa we have been though a lot together and I wish I could turn back the hands of times. I was really looking forward to seeing you advance in your career. It was no doubt in my mind that you would have made rank and continued to make me and the family proud of you. I'm just asking God right now to heal my fragile heart. I love you Cocoa and will remember the good times we had. You still owe Genesis a monopoly game, inside family joke. Now who is going to do Torrie's baby showers? Who's going to put together all the family events? You were such a fabulous decorator. I wish we could have gotten your Event Planning business up and running. The way you handle your cousin (Keonna) bridezilla wedding was something special. You truly had a calling for stuff like that. Family gathering will never be the same. Love Auntie Chell forever and always

I met Soror SaCostia at a small gathering in December 2019. Through conversation, we discovered we were neighbors. I found her to be very courageous due to her occupation but yet very kind and sweet. We'd just spoken via text a few weeks ago after delivering her Delta corsage. This is a shocker. I will continue to pray for comfort and understanding for her boy's and family. God Never Fails. Blessing to you my precious Soror. Your life was an example for all of us in Delta. We were so blessed when you were a part of our Zoom meetings even while serving our city. Your smile and your thoughtfulness on all we discussed was a blessing. I remember two weeks ago as you spoke of what Psalm 46:5 meant to you and how happy you were to be alive. Rest in Heaven and know your legacy will be with me forever. Rev Dr. Constance C Wheeler

Sweet Soror SaCoastia, this one hit me real hard. We met because we were sorority sisters, but connected because of our love for being mommies. I'm devastated by this news; but will cherish our memories and pleasant exchanges. Thank you for bringing joy and laughter to our group, and having the courage to try new things. I love you, beautiful soul. You will be missed. In love and light, Chanda Nicole
