Obituary For Chequeta Lorita Martin

Chequeta Lorita Martin Howard was born on June 25, 1939 to the late James Martin and Lucille Freeman Martin Johnson, in Earlington, Ky. She attended Louisville Central High School, and was very active in alumni activities throughout her life. She married Aaron Howard, who preceded her in death, and to this union three daughters were born.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Earlington, KY, and has been a member of Spirit Anew Ministries for several years. She was a former employee of the Indiana Ammunition Plant, and retired from the General Electric Appliance Park after 30+ years. She was a member of the Ladies of Derby Town. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was also a very active and dedicated Daughter of the Elk member of the Pride of the Thoroughbred Elks Lodge #1230, organizing and participating in many local, state and national civic activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Richard B. “Rickey” Johnson.

On Saturday, July 11, 2020, Chequeta Lorita Martin Howard departed this life. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Lorita F., Alison Y. (Atlanta GA), and Gilda Lewis; sister Elver A. Anderson (James); 4 grandsons Ronald, Jarrus , Aaron, Bryan; 6 great grandsons Ronald, Jarrus Jr., Jacobi, Bryan Judah, Aaron Jr., and Aamarion, and two nephews Richard Jr. and James Jr. , and a host of extended family and friends.
