OPELOUSAS – Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020 at Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA for Mr. John “Tat” Oakley, 74, who entered eternal rest on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Acadia St. Landry in Hospital in Church Point, LA. Rev. Lambert Lein, S.V.D., Pastor of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, will be officiating the graveside service.

Mr. Oakley memories are being cherished by: his son, Joshua Lewis of Opelousas, LA; five brothers, Raymond Hicks of Shreveport, LA, Hammond Hicks (Catherine), Donald Oakley (Delores) and Willie Oakley, all of Opelousas, LA and Frankie Oakley of San Francisco, CA; three sisters, Judy Rideau of Crosby, TX, Dorothy Hicks-Smith (Sylvester) and Gracie Oakley Allen, both of Opelousas, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, Lloyd Smith and Mable Oakley Hicks; one granddaughter, Dora Boudreaux; four brothers, Ronald Oakley, Robert Hicks, Lawrence Hicks and Anthony Hicks; two sisters, Gladys Hicks Morris and Carol Oakley; brother-in-law, Loney Allen; sister-in-law, Georgia Hicks. Visitation will be on Friday, July 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home. ** Please be advised we will adhere to the safety measures and precautions provided by the state of Louisiana due to COVID-19.
