Uncle Lamar, I don't have one memory, I have tons of them. You encouraged me to be the best I could be and to never stop believing that our circumstances didn't define our future. As the first in our age group to go to college, I remembered how calm you were, how you listened and learned from all people. You were a great role model to me before our second Dad (Daniel) came into our lives. Rest in peace and know that you changed all our lives! Thanks for all the talks we had and the jokes we shared. Love YOU!

To the family of my dear brother,Itruly regret that I am unable to attend the home going services and participate in the Last Masonic Rites of a past Master Hammond, I reflect on to good times we shared at the Lodge hall when we would have cookouts and enjoy each other. Past Master Hammond and I would make sure that the kitchen and the pantry was always left "SPOTLESS" . We have missed P.M. at our meetings and gatherings he was truly loved by all. Past Master Sam Malone

I will truly miss you and always remember you as being kind, smiling, and laughing. You were the first and only person who ever took me fishing. Even though I didn't catch anything, I recall the fun that we had that day. It's hard to believe that you are gone, but you will always be here in our hearts. I love you always and may you rest in peace. Your niece, Shayla Cooper.

Lamar Hammond was my uncle, my father was his oldest brother Mr Lewis Calloway Jr aka "Sunny" I met him for the first time when we (most of my family) drove from Detroit Michigan to Rome to meet daddy's side of the family. I was so excited to y'all!! Jackie greeted us when we got there, she seemed to be excited as well. The family was giving grandma a surprise birthday party, I forget what year it was but I'll never forget how my Georgia family made us feel so welcome, loved and told us so many stories about my dad. But when I saw my uncle Lamar and the fact he looked so much like my dad and brother Victor I was amazed! He even sounded like them too! My dad was so happy and proud that day to spend time with his mom, his siblings and their families... Uncle Lamar rest in heaven and tell my dad we miss him so much! Sending our love and Condolences from your family in Detroit... Sharnon "Gina" Calloway Corlley

My fond memory of Lamar was the first time I met him, with a straight face he told me smoking would kill me, then he lit up a cigarette without a word and started cracking jokes one after another. I could immediately sense his warm demeanor, humor and that he was a loving person. I wish I could have spent more time with him. My thoughts and prayers are with all family. Love Vickie Hammond
